Natural / Rustic Driveways

In addition to asphalt and concrete projects, Reis Asphalt Inc. also provides our customers with a selection of natural rustic driveways and community laneways. If you are looking for something unique that will either stand out and be eco friendly, our natural stone and custom driveway options might be the perfect solution!

Here are a few options listed from least expensive to most expensive:

Gravel Driveway

Gravel Driveways (least expensive)

Gravel driveways and laneways are very affordable and can be quickly installed.  A gravel lane way can last for many years, if installed correctly.  We are very diligent with installing a durable base that is graded properly with the water draining away.   Keep in mind that gravel is not a solid surface and may need some maintenance along the way. However, with our installation method, we minimize the need for maintenance.  On the other hand,  gravel is very eco friendly due to its pervious nature.

Seashell Driveway

Stone or Seashell Driveways with a Gravel Base

We also offer a gravel driveway that is top dressed with stone or seashells.  Similar to gravel driveways, these driveways are affordable but still require drainage planning and professional installation. We use a gravel base for the foundation, and the homeowner can then choose to use a seashells or a custom selection of stone products that will add a unique color and texture to the finished product.

Recycled Asphalt Laneway

Recycled Asphalt Product (R.A.P.)

Middle of the Road: A great low-cost, durable solution that is also eco-friendly.  R.A.P. is made of recycled asphalt that is ground into gravel-sized pellets. The finished product can be used to create a gravel driveway, lane way or even a parking lot. What is interesting about this product is that the summer heat will work to release the binders and oils found in the recycled asphalt, essentially melting the gravel pavement together which increases the strength.  Recycled Asphalt Product also makes for easier plowing in the winter compared to gravel or stone.  One of the best aspects of R.A.P. is that it can serve as a base layer if the customer decides to pave the driveway with traditional asphalt in the future, therefore breaking up the total cost in 2 phases.  R.A.P. works well within long community laneways and private associations.

New “Aged” Gray Asphalt

New “Aged” Gray Asphalt

When a new asphalt driveway is installed it is very dark and black in color. As your driveway ages it turns a more subtle gray over time. If you would like a brand new asphalt driveway but would like to skip the initial dark phase, Reis Asphalt, Inc. has a proprietary method to “age” your new driveway and make it gray instead of black. This process gives our customers all the benefits of a brand new asphalt driveway without that stark “just paved” look of new asphalt.  The cost is just slightly more than traditional asphalt.

Macadam, Chipseal, Tar and Chip Driveway

Get the look and feel of a Natural Country Road. Macadam, Chipseal and Tar and Chip are common names to describe a process in which natural stone is embedded into gravel using hot oil.  At Reis Asphalt, we take it a step further and also offer the option to embed the stone in existing asphalt or brand new asphalt.  The end result is a beautiful natural stone driveway that has the durability of asphalt. This is a great option for homeowners that want a unique-looking driveway or walkway, but don’t want to invest a lot of time in the maintenance and upkeep required by traditional stone solutions.
